The Hua Hin to Pattaya ferry service that once shuttled those wishing to travel directly across the gulf rather than by road looks set to have investment by the Transport Ministry into building ferry ports and reviving the previously unsuccessful ferry service. The infrastructure investment is thought to support tourism and help to reduce travel times. The ferry ports will also need access to other public transport services and will be connected to railways networks in Pattaya and Hua Hin.
Transport Minister Prajin Juntong said that the prime locations are Laem Bali Hai in Pattaya and the Khuk Samet Pier in Chon Buri province. The project still needs final approval from the NCPO before development gets under way although, both the NCPO and Transport Ministry have been visiting the suggested port sites and are enthusiastic about the project.
Work on the project is aimed to start early 2016.
